How to take Your Blog from Good to Great

TAKING YOUR BLOG FROM GOOD TO GREAT.

So you have a blog and your ready for action. But how ready is that blog to give you the action your looking for?

I have seen countless blogs out there that look good, and even  have some good articles. But it surprising to me how many blogs are missing some key elements for them to be performing in the best way

The only reason that you have a blog…. or it should be …. is to get leads and to make money. that’s it. Unless for some reason you just love to write and your blog just happens to be  your writing pad, then  great! keep writing stories!. But if you want to monetize your blog, and who doesn’t, then there are a few things that your blog should have in place that It can work for you.

Here are the top things I see missing on a blog.

1) NOT HAVING A PICTURE IN THE BANNER

happy face

Your banner is the first thing that your visitor will see, so you want to welcome them to your page by adding a picture of yourself

It’s nice for them to be able to see who is sharing information with them and it will personalize your page.

When choosing your shot, it’s best to stay away from serious pictures, put a smile on your face,it’s  much more inviting. Don’t be cool and put on any shades,. Let people see your eyes. they will connect better. The whole purpose of the banner is to welcome your visitor and for them to meet you. your eyes will be much more appreciated than a pair of cool darks.

2) TELL THEM WHAT YOUR ABOUT.

It’s a good idea for you to have, somewhere on your blog, preferably on the banner or at the top of the page, a description of what your blog is about and what you will be sharing with them. your visitors can get confused if they land on your page and there is no title or description of what you have to share with them, or what you are about. And  because the internet gives  us  all a bit of ADD they will be off to the next thing in no time……So keep their attention by giving them the answer they are looking for and letting them know that they are in the right place.

3) NOT HAVING A GOOD GIVEAWAY, OR ANY  GIVEAWAY AT ALL

As I said earlier, this is the number one reason you have a blog in the first place. I see far too many blogs that have no way for them to capture a lead and to start building a list. I know you have heard it many times…. THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST!  well, it just happens to be the truth.

Find something to giveaway and if you don’t have something make something. A lot of companies may have a free report or,something like, 5 ways to lose the body fat, or something about the products your  company represents. But whatever the case is You can always make up your own. if there isn’t one around.  giveaway

You can put together  a top 10 reasons why… or a how to guide on something that you are knowledgeable about, and give that away. As long as it something that your visitor will want, or will raise their curiosity, and that you have something to make them fill out the form to capture them as a lead.

If you have a product to sell, throw that up there. Just write something that will make them want to but it or are at least curious enough to want to see what it is and will give you their information to check it out.

Of course this process will consist of having an Autoresponder in place to capture your leads.  I use Aweber It’s one that ‘s been around for a long time and one of the best in my opinion.  Here are a few other’s; I contact, get response and Benchmark email. , Pick one and sign up for an account.

NOT HAVING A SIGNATURE

a great idea to have a signature that goes at the end of all your posts.

signature

This can consist of a small photo of you again…smile and no shades!! Your email address, and your telephone number.

If you are not comfortable with putting your number then get a Skype number  or something that they can use instead of your cell phone. This is your business and what business do you know that doesn’t have a number attached. it will make you look professional and it’s an easy way for your visitors to get in contact if they want more info.

6) NOT  HAVING A P.S LINE AT THE END OF YOUR POSTS

When your visitors have finished reading your post if you have a P.S at the end with a link in it they may click on the link before they exit. Just another way to grab their info if they didn’t click on one of your offers.

P.S I WANT YOU….

If your post was about blogging, then you can say something like; If you want to learn from the best in the industry click here where you can get all you need to know about blogging for free. or something to that nature.

7) HAVING A LOT OF LINKS THAT LEAD THEM OFF OF YOUR PAGE.

It’s okay to have share buttons because you want your visitors to be able to share your post so that others will end up on your blog. The point exactly…. you have them right where you want them so why give them a link to go to your Facebook fan page, Twitter, Instagram,  or your  you tube channel. follow

The idea is to use your blog the other way around. send them from everywhere else to your blog. this is where you want them and so don’t send them away when they are already here!

So there you have it, I hope that you have all of them in place,  and you are able to bring in some of the green stuff!. But if you don’t spend a bit of time tweaking, And in the process take your blog from good to GREAT!
